Chapter Thirteen
The Plan
The next morning, Etain was up before Catriona. She went into the kitchen, clicked on the radio she found, smiling wide when Queen came on, and found what she needed to make: pancakes, eggs, toast, and blueberry muffins. She made a quick rough batter for the muffins first and then moved to make the rest of breakfast.
Catriona walked into the kitchen with a yawn. She stopped dead in her tracks. There was Etain dancing in the kitchen to the radio as she made breakfast in one of Catrionaâs long tee shirts. She just continued to watch. And could not stop the unconscious prayer that she would get to see this every day for the rest of her existence.
Etain loved her mornings in front of a stove. She put on the music and started dancing. She did not hear Catriona walk in, and she went into a spin, using the spatula as her microphone. She stopped dead and blushed. âUmm⦠Good Morning.â
Catriona thought the blush on her cheeks was the most gorgeous blush on this planet, past, present or future. âGood morning.â Catriona stated with a smirk. âIs that breakfast for both of us?â
âOh, yes. I thought we would eat before we started a base plan. And then go to my place and start calling those we know of that still exist.â
âWell, it smells delicious. I did not think you would be one to cook, seeing you are a foul fiend.â
Etain snorted, âI may be a foul fiend, but I have lived on this Earth for four thousand years and made more enemies than I can count. Plus, I was going to run my properties and home. Not, just go to work and come home to a sex slave. I would not have expected my wife or husband to cook all the time. Back when I was thirteen, I was trained as both an Heir and Woman, so, I would split chores with my spouses. As it was, our wife would have been the primary parent.â She sat a full plate in front of Catriona and sat down with her own plate.
âDo you want a child?â Catriona had to ask the question. She did not, nor would she ever want, a child.
Etain chocked on her coffee. âWhat the hell type of question is that?â
âJust wondering.â
âDo you?â
âIf I had a partner to help, and they wanted a child. I just never found that person I would want to raise a child with, or willing to have one for in this life. I know I am not so balanced in my views. I was raised with some strict views and I only got out of being a vessel to give a man pleasure and give birth to heirs because I had powers. But if I had to answer honestly, no, and never have wanted a child.â
Etain shrugged, âhavenât thought about it since my future went up in smoke. I mean, I have been anal about watching my cycle and then birth control.
